had anyone here converted their factory AC system to R134? im curious as to how well it works? im shooting to have my UR quattro painted and back together for this summer and i'd like to have the AC and everything working. im looking at parts that may interchange from later models as well.

yeah, we've done r134a on an urq. it works fine.

We used an SD-508 compressor.

do you have to make custom lines for that compressor?

yeah. but the nice part is that its all standard size hose fittings. JIC o-ring seal.

If you have access to R12, I recommend staying with R12. It cools much better then R134a. At work when we do a/c conversions, almost every single customer says it doesn't get as cool as it did with the previous R12 system. You can use compressed air to check for leaks on a R12 system, which makes tracking them down much easier then injecting dye and trying to shine a fluorescent light in just the right spot. I ordered a rebuild kit for my compressor and a o-ring kit. It literally came with everything needed to rebuild the compressor and replace all seals and o-rings in the factory a/c system. I get 32-34 degree vent temp on 90 degree days here in California

Thanks for the input! The current AC system is still currently charged with R12 but its low so it doesnt get cold. i have no idea where to even start to find R12 for it honestly.

I know what you mean. It can be hard to find sometimes, which is why most switch to r134a. I've had great luck finding R12 on Craigslist. Either way will be better then no a/c at all lol Marc's setup looks pretty legit.
