I just spent 3 hours reading this. Awesome work. I love the bumper conversion and I am telling you right now that I am sorry for stealing your A6 cluster bezel conversion. It is definitely on my to do list. That is a super nice touch. What is that steering wheel that you have? Is that a Tresser?

Thanks so much! And please use any ideas posted here - that's why they're shared!
The wheel is a Nardi that I found randomly on eBay one day. That same day a Nardi wheel adapter happened to be on audifans so I knew it was destiny.

Nope, have not been back to Jason at VEMS yet. I have some to-do's before Carlisle and before I go back to the dyno. The short list:
Pre dyno:
-Balance driveshaft
-Replace clutch master cylinder
-Make better sealing coolant block offs (not a water cooled turbo anymore)
-Replace steering rack
-Redo boost gauge plumbing (hack job from years ago)
-Install 2.2 bar WG spring
-Replace trans mount (somehow ended up with one street density and one new OEM trans mount)
-Replace engine bay fuel lines (braided ones), purchase fire extingusher in the mean time
Pre Carlisle:
-Replaced burned out cluster parts
-Find smaller tires... 245/40/R18's are too tall and contact the leading endge of my rear wheel well under load.

Car looks awesome Casey, that really is a gorgeous engine bay! Sent you a PM, just go grab that cluster from my place, as Nick can attest, you gotta badger me a little bit sometimes if you want something, take it fo free

This weekend I knocked a bunch of stuff off the list. Changed out some vacuum hose, repaired the reference line to the boost gauge, fixed a coolant leak, replaced the steering rack, pulled the driveshaft (going to have it balanced, I hope that finally fixes it), rebuilt the clutch master and slave, and picked up the cluster and repaired my burned out parts! Thanks to vt10vt!
Pictars
Pulling the old rack out - not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Rebuilding the clutch master and slave

Then used a self replenishing bleeding system after I had flushed it

Pulled the drive shaft out and of course the 12th bolt stripped, so I made it go away with a cutoff wheel..

I moved the exhaust a little later and was happy to see part of the catalyst fall out... So it's now gutted (pumped to hear 3" straight back with 1 rear muffler

)

And decided to hit the down pipe with a fresh coat of paint

Repaired the cluster - burned pieces in the foreground

All that remains for Carlisle is to buy a battery, a tie rod end, and try to get it inspected. If time allows, maybe that followup dyno session I've been waiting for. Marc - who has the dyno this month?

Crap.
Can't get the driveshaft balanced locally because they don't have the ability to set it on a jig with CV's on either end of it. Guess I have to do it the fun way and keep clocking the driveshaft until the vibration goes away.. I'm going to be really good at installing and removing the driveshaft and exhaust.

LOL you made the same mistake I did on my 530i. I forgot to mark it once and now there is a vibration and nowhere will balance it for me. I thought about doing it the hard way like you said, but then I thought I'd rather just deal with the slight vibration. Not such a big deal in a 350k mile car compared to a nicely refreshed 200 like yours. It is splined right? Won't it take a LOT of tries to get it right? lol

What's even worse is that I bought the car that way so it has always rattled me haha
It is splined and if I remember correctly its a pretty coarse spline so I won't have to try too many times I hope

I may have access to a spare. Ill let you know!
Also, I am almost certain they are identical on 20v 200's and 5000's so it shouldn't be hard to find one.
