Now I REALLY can't wait to see what that turbo will do, as it's what I will be upgrading to in the future. What a/r hotside, do you know? I'd assume .82 but :idunno:

I'd freaking hope so! I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be, that car didn't die from det but rather a burnt valve.

Good to know. Any idea how the valve got burned up?

It's the classic story: stock sodium filled valve with 200+km and high boost.

I'm having a car show and dyno at work on Sunday, so I want to come correct. I'm sure Marc will help me do so. He's going to tune for 93 octane on FIC 1100's and a GTX3576r.

This still happening today? :D

He's probably going on after this one is done with his RS2 Billet tune...

Marc just getting a base tune going - not too exciting

Im guessing they worked last night and picked up again this morning... That turbo moves some fckn air though ill tell you... Cant wait to hear the results. Marc was jokin it will probably make more power at 10psi than my peak.

This is not an exact 3576r GTX, but rather a wheel I have been playing with Matt, so don't lose any sleep over it. It is basically a 60-1 compressor wheel in a GT35r turbined setup. Simulation showed it would be a better pump gas compressor on the 35r turbine, though it is not panning out that way on the dyno. Stay tuned.

hahah, technically reinventing the wheel huh....

Matt the 60-1 starts life as a 59mm inducer /76.2mm exducer Comp wheel usually mated to a StageIII Turbine 65mm inducer/56.6mm exducer. Compared to the GT35 68mm inducer/62mm Exducer that I believe Hank is referring to...

So Hank, is this still a Journal Bearing unit or has that been upgraded too?

Word. I'd assume he put a 60-1 wheel on a 35r

This is a 60-1 billet blade that has been fitted to a 35r turbine. so yes, 59mm inducer, 76.2ETT wheel. Should have more flow down in the lower Pressure ratios, and less efficiency up in the 30-40psi range. Rob is running this guy on pump, so it was a great test bed for spool characteristics. A "high flow" kitten from our friends out west had the turbo spooling very lazy, but a deleted cat has put it into HTA3582r territory up to 20psi where they are tuned right now.

Yeah, we made it back safe...500 miles and 7.5hrs door to door. The car ran great, and my cruise fuel economy was improved to nearly 24mpg. What?

This trip was nuts. My can sensor failed the day before we left, so once I got the car started at home I didn't have the option of shutting the engine off until I made it to Marc's. That made coming thru NYC in morning rush hour less fun than it normally is. We arrived to Marcs and hot swapped the sensor and the turbo. Then The car was bolted to the dyno. I was a bit nervous being 500 miles from home with a dyno day about to start. Marc calmly stated that he hoped I had rods in the motor, or this wasn't going to last very long. The he began. His attitude was awesome, something like "If you didn't put this thing together correctly I'm about to break it for you.". He didn't say that, but it was evident that it would happen. We did some base runs before breaking for the night. Sean (copilot) and I grabbed dinner and more beers than we really needed to at Portsmouth Brewery and crashed in town.

9am Friday morning things got started again. Over the next 6-7 hours Marc beat on the care with such precision it was amazing. The cat was restrictive at ~300whp so had to die. It put up a good fight, but after an hour with a hammer drill we claimed the last of its 9 lives. Exhaust back in we kept on with the holds and pulls. There were a few tense moments where the oil feed restrictor decided to leak lots of oil on the very hot header, but no fire. At the end of the day the car made just about 400whp. Marc indicated some disappointment, but it wasn't for lack of trying that we didn't make more. He believes that there may be a cam timing issue from when we changed the sensor. If this car made 400whp and was a tooth or more off I'm going g to be even more impressed. I'll check it Tuesday when I'm off and have some time. I'll post day o graphs once Marc emails them to me. The view that I took suck, but I'll try to get a few up anyway.

Big thanks to Sean, Marc, Hank, etc. It was great to meet everyone up there...I'll be back for more as soon as I can manage the time off work and away from family.

Glad to meet you & Sean, Rob. Glad yer numbers came out good. Glad you enjoyed the P-mouth Brew. I felt bad about taking off instead of running in to have beers with you guys but I really had to make it back to Mass for the night and havin' a buncha beers wouldn't have been a good recipe for driving home even later...

And I guess you put the motor together right too :)

Awesome! Dyno days are so intense at first and then you get used to headers/exh manis glowing red and it just becomes cool :)

If you're a tooth out... lol. prepare for an improvement in spool and general awesomeness.
