It's just a pressure regulator hooked to the top WG chamber. I had more of an explanation typed out, but i hit the del key and it went back a page and i lost the whole thing. So know I say fiddle sticks you computer and am going to do something else

Let me know if you want it explained more in depth.

Bejesus, I just got back from some 0 degree tuning on the interstate. 29 psi in 3rd is fricken retarded! :woowoo: :woowoo: :woowoo: I think I figured out the knock light problem, I didn't have enough dwell and was getting misfires! Upped the dwell, timing and fuel and it's screaming right now. I had to come in as traffic was starting to build and it's starting to snow again.
I also got a good feel for how the turbo acts on high boost in 4th gear. It will surge a little at 4200 rpms, but above that you just get a slight flutter until 4600 then it's all business. With closed loop boost control I'll be able to tune all of that out and have a nice usable 15 psi from 3500 to 4500 rpms then let it rip above that.
Until it comes out (Please say soon!) I'll just have to get used to going from 5th to 3rd to really pass people. 8)

Nice, glad to hear that the tuning is coming well =) yea, that dwell is critical at your power levels, I run over 8MS in the 80, w/o it (say a regular 2-3MS that most DIS cars run) the car won't fire under boost!
You'll be the first to know when it comes out...well, at least the 3'rd or 4th

Went for a ride today! :woowoo:
The snow tires didn't stand a chance in second or third gear! I can't wait to see that thing out racing this summer!

Any time!
A little update, I've just been trying to get the car 100% sorted, and tring to make a 17 year old car feel like new again. I did a really cheap exhaust upgrade. the old exhaust consisted of a cat with a pipe through it, then to a Borla XR-1 that sat way to low right under the driveshaft bearing, then to an Aero-turbine muffler and out the side.
The new one changes after the cat, going strait into two Dynomax Bullet race mufflers that tuck up as well as a stock exhaust for great ground clearnance. Then I put the Borla where the Aero-turbine used to be.

The sound is slightly quieter than the old system and I really like it. Loud when it needs to be and quite for most highway driving.
I also took the car skiing for the first time with the new turbo, man what a difference! I drove almost the entire way in 5th. Going up those big hills really gets the GT35R spinning easy and I could make 10 psi of boost at 3000 rpms for normal passing. The .82 hotside is still making me happy, I could regulate the boost pressure so well down low with just the gas pedal going up large hills. This has been a big problem in the past with all of my turbos with .63 hot sides.
I also decided to do some body work this weekend.

I kissed a not so soft snowbank while playing rally car...
So now I need a new hood, my front bumper looks like crap my fenders are too small, and my rear bumper is jacked up. I can already see what this summer's project is going to be.
Hmm, what else. I'm going to install one of 034's adjustable cam pulleys this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to bump the power band down just a little. We'll see what the dyno tells on 3-25-06

You get new rims Jimbo or are those just snowies?
Edit: I did the same rear end remodelling last time out ice racing. Only cracked it...still wondering if my dad has noticed it yet

What are your plans for a front bumper? Find a stock replacement? I just sent my 90 to the yard and they crushed it.... :(

damn, you guys must have gotten the weak 90q's.
When i was ice racing last weekend. I went nose first into a snow bank at about 45mph without any damage, then later that day i did a nose/broadside into a snow bank at 45-50mph without any damage. :bashtard:

Yeah, but how frozen were those banks. First time out I went off at the end of the oval at 65mph indicated (or, was indicated before I locked all four wheels!), and blew right through the powder snow bank.
A month of time and two weeks of near-zero weather hardened them up a bit, so they no longer deformed so easily...the car did instead!

Those are the badly bent up snow wheels. I think they might get retired this year. I'll probably do a fiberglass RS2 front, B4 hood, repaint a different stock rear, and I'm not sure about the fenders.

Hey,
I was all excited to see dyno numbers when I saw your thread. I thought your time was this weekend? Car must be running pretty good to worry about petty body work.

Nope, in two weeks. One more funny thing about this car, the seat belt light comes on at full tilt above 7000 rpms. WTF?

Lucky you don't have air-bags. The accelerometers would think that you were being rearended at 7K full tilt instead of just a seatbelt light. That is an odd electrical problem even for an old audi.

Maybe that's the "Install Roll Cage" light?

I can see it now...Jim stomps on the gas and gets a broken nose from the airbag...
I like Doug's suggestion though!

We ususally ski Copper or Vail and try to stay up there at least one night to get away from traffic.
