Shipping? What Dan, you can't make the drive down from North LA to OC, to pick up parts? Geez. :)

Had to pause on the car and give the house some attention. Just installing a new variable speed pool pump turned into re-pouring pads and making a new base for the rusted out heater to sit on. ImageImage

I'll roll down to the "L.B.", But all of us will have to get together!

Did you put the variable speed pump in yourself? What did you go with? I've been wanting to put one in at the house. Haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Hayward Ecostar SP3400VSP. The price on Amazon was half the installed price locally so I figured I can buy a new one if I have issues with warranties. I did install it myself, it comes with an adapter plate to make raise it up to the same mounting point as the Pentair. Super easy to install if your pump is easily removable. Love it so far. That reminds me, I need to register it and apply for the rebate.

I have been plugging away making little things. One is an attempt to put a walbro 450 pump inline, but I think it's going to require a surge tank. Here was the first attempt, but the pump was leaking at the rear. Normally they are submerged so sealing them isn't a priority ImageImage

Why not run one of Nick's in-tank baskets?

Because surge tank in progress :) it will be nice to have a small one. This will fit where the stock pump was. Just need to tap a bunch of holes and make the pump mount

Surge tank! It's about a quart capacity and bolts into the stock location. The bulkhead connector came from racetronix. ImageImageImage

Thanks Deaner. Here is tonight's project, figured Why not. Better than sitting on the shelf! The 07k doesn't desperately need water injection like the old motor but just a little bump in octane can go a really long ways a little bird told me. ImageImage

Looking good on the direct port injection! What size nozzles did you go with?

Regarding the surge tank, I've read that the design of the fuel tank acts as a basic surge tank on its own, is this a development as a result of need or preventative measures?

I don't know that I need a tank of extra volatile sh!t in my trunk bet then again it makes a huge difference. On the way to work I reminded myself why I have it .
How big are those jets? I'm running 3 x 1mm which nets about 600 ml / 1 min

I have never had fuel starvation issues if above 1/4 tank on the track, although I never actually logged fuel pressure so who knows. The surge tank is really there just to submerge the Walbro pump, you can't just place them inline because they leak. See above a few posts.

The jets are .5mm green banded. I run a 6th right before the air temp sensor to trick the ecu into adding more timing. My pump is either 150 or 200 psi. Can't remember. It's high enough I don't worry about pressure drop on high boost.

All controlled by an aquamist fast acting valve on a spare injector channel that is enabled by a Hobbs pressure switch around 15psi

I also have an AEM fail safe system that monitors flow I plan on having it disable high boost if flow falls outside the normal map.

I have a lot invested in this system so it would have been silly not to run it! Only a few extra evenings so far to get it installed completely stealth mode.

That intake manifold... is it an IE one you modified?

Yes, IE and Iroz love child. The flange, runners and velocity stacks are perfection, it would be difficult to re-produce them for the price of the manifold. The only downside is they are long and get you into trouble with the side mount radiator, but we figured that out:)

Thanks Dana. And who doesn't love some cruise control! Too bad the hot glue isn't permanent, but had to stick in there somehow to locate it under the manifold. CC isn't exactly critical to getting this running, but it's critical for road trips :)

You can see all of the plumbing and brackets I have been working on. The accusump was another thing that is optional, but it will be nice to have it in there. ImageImageImage
