'for now' being the key word. The goal is to get the car running. I'd like to have it done for the NHIS track day on the 15th but that seems like a longshot. Plan is to work on the turbo upgrade after everything is running right normally aspirated.

gotcha. i think i'm gonna bite the big one from the gitgo on my 4kq. i have pretty much all the parts, and the schedule is looking to put me a little while away yet, so i can finish up my header and get the pistons milled.

Yes, thank you SIR!

Things are VERY tight around the brake master cylinder. I'm thinking I'll need to tweak that upward a bit.

That looks different than mine :o ...uh oh :( . My M.S is much closer to the valve cover. [/quote]

piston milling is one thought. My initial steps will be stacked gaskets and water injection.

If the engine grenades, the next step would be to sleve the motor and install MC pistons on top of custom rods ;)

cool, i think if i was going to do it that route, i'd pick some lighter pistons....

nother day at the shop, worked slower today but still did alright overall.

Re-routed the passenger side header to clear the subframe, wired up the starter and alternator, and uh.. I guess that was it for today

meaning I start with the 4 or 5 bolts on the reverse side of the fan or the 2 bolts that I could see on the idler bearing assembly?

The two on the bearing assembly didn't seem to want to come off lefty loosey so that might have been the bit I was missing right dar...

Looks like a good excuse to ditch the vac-assist and head into a full dual-MC set-up ;)

More work than I want to put into this car at the moment. I'll make the vac. assist setup work, even if it means cutting off the breather nipple from the valve cover and relocating it.

*cough* I'm sorry, who are you and what have you done to Marc!?! lol.

I completely understand. I might go the dual MC route...but I'm definitely considering just keeping the stock MC/Vac set-up.

Nother day at the shop yesterday.

I pulled the timing covers off in preparation for a t-belt job (waiting on the tools and such which I scored off ebay). Judging by the copper paste on the bolts and the relative fresh looking of the belt it looks like its been done before somewhat recently...

Image

I also put the fusebox back together after taking out the stock engine harness, put the fan blower box back in place after ripping out the AC core (I routed the 034 wirinig where the AC lines used to live).

Lastly I tacked up the front section of the exhaust. For now I'm just going to run it through the stock exhaust system but I'll change this when the car goes off the road again for the turbo upgrade.

'V' for victory?

Image

No.. 'Y' for, uh.. y-pipe ;) (yes, I know.. I cut it a bit short.. a 3" pipe would fit better on the end there..)

And the rest of the system on the car

Another day at the shop, got the fuel lines fabbed up (I ended up using -5 tube nuts since I had a 37 degree flare tool anyway). Also I traced the 'B' block on the fuse box from the stock 7A harness and removed the unneded pins leaving only the fuel pump output and the switched igntion power which I ran to the passenger side along with a big fat wire to the '30' (battery) group on the fusebox which I will junction inside the car by splicing with the battery wire. I took pics but I dont have my card reader with me, I'll post em up tomorrow at some point.
