Thanks for the tip Marc. I've been meaning to rearrange the timing map. Way too many fields below 100kpa.
Any idea about the boost control? Or should I just leave it like this?[/quote]
I think you have your terms reversed when you are talking about how you are setting up boost control. I think what you are saying is that "open loop" is what you just switched to and the boost builds fine, when you change to closed loop is when you cant get it to build over 250. Closed loop is much harder to tune, open loop is pretty much a guarantee you can build as much boost as your turbo is mechanically limited to provide.
Running open loop boost control works just fine. you'll get small variations in boost due to changes in altitude, but your boost curve should be very stable.

Yeah, sorry. Looks like I switched them around. I'll just leave it as is then.
Also, I thought I'd let you know. The launch control is working fine now. I hadn't checked it since I flashed the firmware to the newer version and now it works perfectly. Not sure if that makes any sense though....

I still have to wire it to the clutch petal, but I'll be sure to get a video. I am kind of scared of breaking another input shaft though, lol.

Yeah, don't blame you. I'll settle for it just firing and not launching.

Holy crap that timing map doesn't help me at all lol. Definitely rearrange that thing so you have some more cells above 100kPa. I can post mine if you'd like. I'm running quite a bit more timing than you up top... like 7 degrees more in some places and thats with it backed off a bit just in case.
I think 265 is pretty much right on the ragged edge of where we need to be in terms of power on completely stock bottom ends. I haven't even put ARP's in mine yet lol. AND my stock clutch is still holding fine. I really need to source an 01E soon tho so if you know about a wide first 01E for a good price let me know!

Damn, that just tells me that I need to start throwing some more timing at it! I'll rearrange it but it's a linear interpolation between the cells so it's really not hurting anything as is, it'd just look a bit better. Post yours man, I'd love to take a look.
265 feels really good and if judging by last nights runs the 200 may be a 108-112 trap speed. Just a guess but I'd say its at least 300+awhp as it sits probably putting it somewhere around 375-400ish crank...which is the rumored limit.
01E and good price never come in the same sentence, lol. I completely rebuilt my S4's two years ago and spend nearly $4,000 in parts alone! Here's a few pics (because we all love pics):

New parts (plus the full JHM rebuild and 3-4 shift collar which are not pictured):

Yeah, those are a lot of new and expensive parts... I can see why that would get expensive. I really don't want to have to drop more than 1k for a good, wide 01E though. If I score one at the junkyard, it will be under $200 lol. Haven't seen an S4 yet though. I think Mark (with the racing coupe thing on this forum) or someone else scored two 01E's for free one time. Gotta get lucky!
Anyway, I was more under the impression that most people hit the limit at more like 400 whp, not 400 chp. That guy Anthony over at Audizine has his S4 avant running like 370 on stock manifold and stock bottom end, so thats testament to it in part. I'd be willing to bet you are making a good bit more over 300 whp considering the weight of the car. I can easily hang with or beat a local 312 whp, 3000 lb Gti, so that tells you something for sure.
VEMStune is on my other comp, but here is the timing map written out. This isn't the one that has two degrees taken out above 200 kPa, so watch out for that.

There are good deals to be found but buying a used transmission always scares me. People are shady or may just not know. You're buying a sealed unit which may be junk inside... And you don't know until you've spent hours changing it out. That's why I went the rebuild option, peace of mind. When my 016 poops out I'll rebuild my spare 01E and it'll be good.
I've got to get this thing on a dyno then we'll know for sure. Just waiting for the damn IC core. I've calculated by weight (~3,700) and trap speed (~116) in my S4 that it is around 400awhp. The 200 weighs a bit less and may be in the 110mph range putting it at maybe 325-350awhp. Again, this is ALL speculation and could be COMPLETELY off, lol. Either way, I wish my S4 was running so I could race the two of them

I'll be fixing that in the next few months.
Wow, that is a TON more timing! I'll have to play a little bit more with it. Thanks for sharing!

Thats more along the lines of what I'm thinking too. Anyway, ya... it is indeed a lot more. Marc did take a look at it though and didn't have any problems with it and of course my car has been running on it minus two degrees of timing above 200 kPa and its been fine so far...

Just out of curiosity, what are your coolant temps like just cruising around?

sick. what are your settings? I set it up and played with it a bit but kept the revs low, around 3k or so IIRC. Still need to wire up the clutch switch as well.

yes yes I know...Didn't want to break anything

I will mess with it more when I get the new turbo and clutch installed.
