I'm getting compressor STALL Dan. I think you are thinking of the surge when the throttle plate shuts and the BOV/BPS is non-existant or fails to operate causing a massive spike in pressure in the intake. The sound that diesel turbos make is what it sounds like when you get off the throttle. Its the turbo spooling down due to the unequal pressures in front and behind the compressor. BAD
Stall is where the turbo is being overspun past it's capabilities and can't flow what the engine is demanding

I must have read that wrong. Clearly it says "stall", not "surge". LOL

My k24 had no issues at 25psi and my k26 has none either...

Yeah... something is wrong here. I've never heard of or experienced any surging of any sort under load with a k24/k26, etc. Maybe its different on a 20v.

Were you running a ginormous cam and ported head?
It may not be compressor stall but it sure feels like it and the boost gauge supports it with the fluctuation. Maybe its the wastegate going all funky? Or the WGFV?
Dave even said he was getting this kind of stall/surging with this K24/Cam/Head setup

I'm running a 20v head. Which I'd imagine flows more.
I ran my old 20v at about 20psi with a stock mc1 cam and didnt have the issue. Does it still happen without the cam?

I never had an issue with the MC2 cam running 15psi. But the head wasnt as heavily ported as it is now when I was running it. I did a massive port job on the exhaust manifold too as shown in previous postings

Very interesting. Try this if you have the time....swap back to the mc2 camshaft and see if the surge/stall goes away. Maybe "The Cam" is just too radical for a quick spooling turbo? Even if you lose top end power it would be nice to be able to just mash the go pedal into the carpet relentlessly without fear

i find it hard to believe a ported 20v head with stock valves is going to outflow a 20v head or cause any surge issue

I have 34mm exhaust valves if it matters. All valves have had a valve job too

For sure. Ill be ready this year. You better be too. No more excuses like "I dont have an ECM, my car wont run without one", etc etc

Well, don't go and blow yours up.

BTW, we should discuss a caravan.

Ok update. Im still getting boost cut at 15psi. Gonna pick up a cheap inline reg from harbor freight or whatever and put it inline with the ecm and set it ir 14.9999 psi lol. All I have to say at this point is holy torque batman. At 14.9 psi the power is insane. 4th gear pulls like a bat outa hell. The torque really starts kicking in at 3600 and pulls all the way through 6700 where I am forced to shift :(

Curious as to how much further past 15psi you want to venture. What "tuning" have you done to the fuel dizzy? What chip/wg spring are you using?

I was thinking 17 total. Its a non-production Ben Swann 2.0+ superchip with a 1.8BAR spring and adjustable mod.
Im getting the holy grail of chips this week too. A MAC11c with a Natrix chip

Turbo wont help with the overboost issues. Like I said before, you need a standalone. The problem is with the stock computer and its inabillity to regulate above a certain level. With the standalone you will be able to go to 25-26ish psi. Thats where it gets fun.

I agree dave. Thats why I was going to install an inline reg as a temporary solution to overcome the 15psi limit. Hang in there! School is out in about a month and I go back to 50-60 hour work weeks. And since my truck is now paid off and I have my car for driving, I should be able to grab that from you in no time. Unless I find a smokin deal on a 74-80 Ramcharger

. TWIN TURBO 505 CI stroker with NAWWWWZZZZ!!!!
