Martin,

You are evil

But if it helps, I have the front and rear ur-q valence and bumpers, they are alpine white,
So that probably won't work for Matt? But Andrew could fix that

Matt,

You should do it, just tell the family it is the perfect 4 door urish-quattro..... :hide:

I am asking $500 for both, but we can work out a deal or do a swap.. I would love to see them go to good use

man I wish you had those off the car when I was doing my swap, Martin... lol. Would have made my transformation SOOOOO much easier!

Regardless though, the FG panels I used did let me do some "changes" to make it flow better (in my opinion) without having to do a lot of sheetmetal work. Like extending the flares down the rear doors so it doesn't have the funny flat spot then flare start 1/4 down the door.

Not for the faint of heart, and I wouldn't want to know what it'd cost if you paid someone to do the welding... but damn, it's rewarding to step back and know that I did this myself, that's for sure!

Dear god Justin... It's just really phenomenal the amount of work you put into that body. I would absolutely feel proud if I was you!

But I think I'm going to go with the bolt on flare look. I'm confident andrew can make it actually look good.

And I also think I'm going to go with europa paint. I already have it and I'd really love to see it on a car in new shape. Plus it'd stealth mode the car a little more, and look great all glossy rather than the kind of satin finish the one stage paint is in now.

Hmm, europa 4k...

Yes, Martin is undoubtedly evil, though he himself seems helpless against the power of the Audi gods. I remember a few years ago that he attempted to leave us for the P-car denomination. But the Audi gods pulled him back.

Those bolt-on flares are what we Datsun Z-car guys call ZG flares. Apparently, they're all over eBay in varying quality.

Yeah I just have to get measurements on my wheel wells and then I can go about ordering. I just purchased a clutch kit for my Jetta so I won't be buying anything for the 4k till after Christmas.

The only things I'm going to do to the engine are heat shielding and a .82 housing. The housing will give me 10-20whp for the same boost and if I can drop my intake temps by 20deg that's a few degrees of timing I get back. Not to mention I can pick up another 4+psi of boost (@23 peak 21 redline now) . Altogether I think it should be good for a conservative 40whp. Not bad for $400 or less. I hope the 016 doesn't fak up.

Writing this down so i can stop thinking about it.

To do list over the winter, in priority:

-suspension refresh, new bushings etc, whatever is needed
-alignment
-fuel filter
-oem heat shield(s)
-.82 hotside
-eBay turbo blanket if enough clearance

Speaking of the fuel filter, what is the other little thing back there? Another filter? Can i remove it?

Does anyplace offer a kit for all the bushings? Not looking forward to that $$ but it's gotta be done.

Priorities eh... I have my oem heat shielding, bought a blanket off eBay, and just found a .82 gt30/k26 hotside local(ish) to me! So I guess the heat issue and motor parts will be the first things received. I swear I'm going to do the suspension first though :)

Question. While I'm in there changing the fuel filter, should I just remove the accumulator? Is it doing anything on my EFI car? Is it worth it to keep as a mini surge tank?

Good. I figured as much. Especially at 27 years old.

So my cart at 034 for suspension refresh front to back, all bushings and mounts... $725. Yeeeeouch.

I die a little inside when I see what it costs to do all that work to nearly any Audi I'd like to (or do) own...

What about Powerflex/CBrydon/HPR combos, any way to take the edge off with that combo?

Yeah I'm going to have to figure something out because screw that. I might just get cheap OEM stuff. My car is solid enough with the track density motor and tranny mounts

I still have to get them into the car but I have had 4 of these sitting in a drawer ready to be used for the trans and rear diff. Also picked up a used powerflex rear mount for my diff when Peter parted his CQ. Just need to decide between HPR and Energy Suspension for the motor (I like the HPRs but with 2 kids in preschool and a wife in premed this dude has a budget).

Not as many options for the A-arms, I forget if bambridge on S2Forum makes any. For sways I think Energy sells a dimensional bushing that could work.

Depends, I thought that his inner tierod bushings were reasonable.

Those are 911 mounts, they aren't wide enough for the motor; I guess you could make an adapter plate if you really wanted the same durometer everywhere.

911 motor mounts are great as gearbox/diff mounts. Same size and offset but way better design and a bit stiffer.

BTDT on few cars now.

I like this. 20whp same boost. IMO unnoticeable spool loss. Forget about the green lines ;)

I like this too! But I must not have paid for the time machine option on my dyno. I didn't even know it was available.

.63 vs .82? 20whp @22psi for 500RPM spool? Sounds like a fairly balanced tradeoff. It also looks like the tune on the .63 is not as good. It has a hole in the midrange

Timeslips... drag racing scares me lol. Also, that's 20whp for the same boost. Not to mention I'll be able to hold boost till redline, less backpressure, lower EGT, less radiant heat so improved intake temps... I'm looking forward to the "betterness"

I will get in touch with you as soon as I'm ready to order. Once the car is up on the lift and I know what I need.

Drag Racing is fun when you start blowing away brand new mustangs and camaros with a mid-80s Audi.

Ego-bruising is a lot of fun lol. You should try it! I want to see 11s and 12s!
