I'd like to think that because he has a degree that you guys are right, but I've decided that degrees are way overrated......after all thermometers have degrees and we all know where they stick them don't we?

You can always cut it open again after, and modify it.

the main curved piece i tried welding this to is 6061 T6, and i think these small pieces are T3 or something much softer. i know a little bit about what i'm trying to do, so i started with the heat on the thicker, harder piece and then moved over. i got a tack to hold it in place, then let it cool a bit and came back to give it a better hold in place and the small thin end fell off and hit the ground to go splat. haha.
i think i'll try cutting some thicker pieces out of the T6 sheet i have and give that a whirl. i may end up with less diverters though since they take up some of the space in the slot. or i'll revise my design again to make it work.
you might want to try your own casting.
