Yeah, and the funny thing is, when I was researching it after seeing it done on TV, I found people quoting emails from ARP that said it was a good idea to do that. And yet their instructions say only "finger tight" and they do put a bottom taper on their aluminum-block studs. Really weird.

Hey so I'm timing the engine at the moment and a thought came across my mind. Are the MC-1s an interference motor? I know the JTs are not but I was able to fully rotate the camshaft while piston #1 was at TDC and had no binding. Perhaps it is only when the lifter is pumped up?

All the turbos were interference in that era (no idea about newer stuff), and the rest were not (except maybe the 2.3 which apparently was at high RPMs), although I've read of N/As that bent valves and turbos that didn't. As I understand it, the difference is the dished pistons- when the belt breaks the valves hit the higher outer edge. I'm sure damage versus none has more to do with when it breaks. Coming off of idle seems more likely and would be kinder to the valves than if you're screaming down the interstate when it goes...

Like me, you're probably just used to seeing them all fried and withered. ;)

Definitely something I'll need to do with mine in the near future...

Those o-rings are proper size. Theyre just modern day and new. These ones are designed for modern day gas with ethanol. Now they wont get all eaten up. Soon as I get off work, my dad and I are putting the engine/trans/k-frame back into the car today.

Also, those o-rings are an absolute pain in the ass to put on

Im really hoping I'll be in the high 20's with this car. That will essentially cut my fuel bill in half over what I'm spending now

We are on the same page with that. High 20s low 30s would be awesome.

You will get better mileage with the MC, at least I did. I think I got around 30mpg on my first trip to Carlisle, but it got better after that once I properly set the mixture.

New injector o-rings are nice. Popping them in in great (twss) :)

Its funny to see you talk about how you might get good gas mileage with your 20vt swap. I thought i might get good gas mileage with my V8 swap but what i've found is everytime i drive it I just cant seem to drive it like a normal car. When you have power you use it all the time and its so hard not to use it when you know all you have to do is push that right pedal down. Best of luck with your fuel ecomony :-)

I have my R/T to go fast and play around with, but yeah I agree with always wanting to use the power.

On a side note......THE ENGINE IS IN!!! Transmission, engine and front k-frame are bolted in. I have to still do the down pipe. I think removing the wastegate and bolting the down pipe pn first will work

Update! Down pipe, wastegate, and all exhaust components bolted up. The down pipe had 0 clearance issues so not sure why some people claim to have issues. I believe I have the wiring figured out.

If anyone has a spare CIS fuel supply line that goes from the fuel filter to the fuel dizzy off a 20vt, let me know!! The fuel routing will be done after I get that line. I will be checking the JY this week too for the line I need.

I believe I have about half the intake figured out. Using the URq intake components, I can onnect the igloo to the turbo no problem. My major problem is figuring out how Im going to mount up this intercooler
